Bumpin Uglies!

I’m not going to neglect this site like a Bradgelina baby any longer!

So I’ve returned from Whitehorse, for APTN’s Aboriginal Day Live – such an incredible experiance to be a part of, I miss the 24 hr sunlight already.  I even got a new nickname out of the deal from Kinnie Starr: “Feathers” – love it.

My last two shows (hosting the Wpg Press Club on Monday and doing a set at the Kingshead last night) has really changed my perspective of my own performance. It was the first time in a very long time that I didn’t feel super nervous and shaky on stage. There are days when I feel like I will never overcome my nervousness. I speed through my material, and I’m conscious of it. I can’t explain what kind of experiance it is to work hard on your writing and rehearsing – only to destroy your performance out of anxieties.

It was the first time in a long time I felt like I could breathe. That I could take a moment to sip my beer and maybe get the occasional applause break (wow). It was great to sharpen up a lot of material I’ve been working on for a long time, make it feel tight and stage ready. It was fun to play with the crowd a little bit and to not be afraid of that. Some of the greatest add ons to material can come from just not being afraid of that, of what an audience can give you.

I look  forward to a nice long summer of writing and gearing up for the fall – I think 2010 is going to be boss for comedy in this city.

Britney Spears was performing a concert in Manchester UK and yelled out “What’s up London?!” ah so close Britney, so close. England yes. London, no.
